If you like occults, I really reccomend Werewolves. The CAS and Build/buy is unique in that pack as well (a lot of damaged, run down stuff) It's also got a great advancement system for the Werewolves. (my only quibble is that they kept the Alpha/Omega thing that is not a real thing with real wolves)
Skip For Rent for now. The world is cool, I love the CAS/Build Buy, but the key feature - Residential rentals - causes problems.
I'll second Horse Ranch though. But I'm biased. I love horses, I rode horses as a kid (competatively, even, though I didn't do very well) so a pack dedicated to horses is very much My Thing
Werewolves looked interesting to me for the CAS and Build Buy but I wasn't overly impressed with previous occults (dare I mention mermaids) so I was a bit skeptical. I'm glad the advancement is good this time around!
That's such a shame about For Rent as it really appealed but similarly to Wedding Stories I've stayed away because of mentions of the key part of it being broken.
Lots of love for horse ranch I see, I never had much time for them in Sims 3 but now I'm curious haha

Any of the occults that get their own Game Pack are generally fairly well supported. Spellcasters are a bit controversial, because most of their spells are just cheats, but Vampires and Werewolves are both really well crafted.
