Funny/weird things that happened in your game without you controlling it?

Sorry if there's already a thread for this, I've tried to look it up and didn't find a recent one.

I've seen a lot of people complaining on other forums that the sims are useless on their own and they always have to control them. Well, I see it the other way. Somehow nowadays my sims are unpredictable, even when I try to make them behave like I want the storyline to go, so at this point I'm just sitting back and enjoy the ride.

So let's see a few examples (sorry, it's probably gonna be long):

I started with a teen girl who quickly had a crush on a fellow classmate and it was mutual. They started dating, became partners, had fun together but somehow never developed a soulmate status. I like my sims to have a lot of friends so they can have fun gatherings, grow up "together" etc. So after a while my girl and her BF's best friend started to fall for each other and flirt all the time - without me controlling their actions. They ended up being soulmates, the girl broke up with the boyfriend, married the other guy and they had a kid. I thought this is it, they'll be a big happy family...but then the girl started to flirt with her ex again and became pregnant. Because I control other households as well, it was always a guessing game when I saw my girl pregnant again - is this child from the father or the lover? (Bc she just kept getting pregnant lol) - One day her husband got a call from the lover that he found a ring (you know the drill) and I decided to tell him to say yes. So now the girl have 2 husbands.
The lover (now husband number 2) is a spellcaster, and out of 3 kids one grow up to be one. I decided to move her out and have her own storyline bc I never really play with spellcasters and I was in the mood. She got a boyfriend and was about to go to prom and have the best day of her life. When she arrived, I didn't see her date so I focused the camera on him and guess what - he was cheating on her. Since she's a spellcaster, I stepped in - Froze the BF and got the girl on fire he was cheating on and then went on to enjoy the prom. This was the moment I decided she is gonna be an evil spellcaster even if I wanted her to be like his father who is wholesome - he is going around the world and resurrecting dead people, etc.
One day she was using the telescope to get her logic skill up and got hit by a meteorite. I'm playing with the Sims since the beginnings and this never happened to me so I was kind of shocked. Luckily his father is a top level spellcaster so he bought her back.

This family and their friends had a lot to happen to them without me stepping in that I already lost count. While they were younger one of his best friends married Ash and died of laughter during the wedding. At this point the "lover" was just a regular guy, so I had to make them reach level 10 gourmet cooking skill and hunt down all the ingredients to bring him back. Now all is well, the guy and Ash have 2 science babies and love each other since ages.

I'm sure this is because of a known bug but my Weddings are always chaotic too, especially if I invite Father Winter. Idk why but he's always flirting with someone - sometimes it's funny but when he's out to get the bride or the groom I have to work really hard to get rid of the "fear of being cheated on" moodlet. Other than Father Winter, it seems like my guests can never behave. It's a beach wedding? No one is watching the ceremony, they prefer swimming instead. Is this a wedding with a bar? Sure, they are getting wasted instead of taking their seats. Is this a celebrity wedding? They get raided by fans and paparazzis. Is there a dress code? 80% of the guests decide to wear to most outrageous clothes.

I'd be able to continue but this is already too long

I can't wait to hear your stories!

  • @EnkiSchmidt Yes! That is wonderful
@WhatCobblers That is so interesting about the mermaid townies. I wonder if Ikkanu did some magic there. Oh yes, if played sims show up as walkbys when you're playing someone else, and the played sims hang around and chat with NPCs, they will remember the NPC later and maybe even had a good enough conversation to become friends.

Ah, I was worried that was what was happening. Is there a way to turn that off? It's frustrating when you don't actually want sims to build lots of connections with other NPCs (even more so when they are meant to be enemies!) Why can't my Sims do that with the people I actually want them to be friends with?! ? It seems to take ages to make my own Sims like each other.

Yes, forget the sea, the gym is where you will always find mermaids in my game. ? I have a household of eight merfolk living together (not Ikkanu, he lives on his own) and there is always at least one of them showing up at any gym.

As for Ikkanu, that gives me an idea for a story. I can picture him accidentally cloning someone and freaking out about it afterwards. Spell gone wrong perhaps?

  • I have had some saves with large households where my sims will dress in outfits that are not in the saved outfits that I approved for them, and they will run off into whatever world they live in to check things out and socialize and do whatever. They make friends and all kinds of stuff. When that happens I have to keep going back and forth to follow the sims around and see what they’re up to. I don’t want to miss anything cool, although I’m sure that I have! My fave thing that I was able to catch was when two of my sims were checking out a street musician, and they were chatting with people around, then the musician sim of the two took the guitar and started playing there on the street in front of people. It was pretty fun to see! That scene went on for a long time.

@WhatCobblers There's no easy way. There is probably a mod.

Maybe Ikkanu is try to copypasto some food or a tool or some nice article of clothing he could really use more of but for some whacky reason ends up hitting a person or animal with it
