I wouldn't call it confirmed, but come to think of it, they already have a working system for rabbit keeping in Bust the Dust: A rabbit spawns (or gets bought in the EP), a sim cuddles and feeds the rabbit (obviously not with dust, but generic rabbit food, but same principle) and when the rabbit is happy enough it gives money over time. Instead of sending the rabbit to look for treasure like it's dust cousin, the life rabbit might give wool. And the other animals could function the same way.
