I don't get it though: I thought they divided the worlds into neighborhoods to avoid this exact problem. Does it really matter how many worlds exist in a save file if only 4-5 lots are shown onscreen at any given time? I understand maybe a higher amount of sims causing performance problems because of under the hood simulations, but that's what culling is for, right?
It's probably more than just the travel screen, but how long it takes the game to start, loading saves, and who knows what else. Whatever it is, they need to work towards increasing the capabilities of this game because these tiny worlds are frustrating.
I keep seeing people say that the world size is fine for them because they have plenty of room in other worlds. For me, it doesn't matter if every other world was completely empty. I have at least ten celeb families that I want to live in 'Hollywood' but it's too small for all of them to live there. The other worlds are irrelevant.
And similar to what Writin_Wreg said, I keep most Maxis-made lots so I'm not going to bulldoze every community lot just to make room for residential.
