I always had a naming rule for all my sims games. It helps me deciding the names.
First son: Gets first letter from mother's father's first letter, and last letter from father's father's last letter.
First daughter: Gets first letter from father's mother's first letter, and last letter from mother's mother's last letter.
Some times I can combine several letters from those two grandparent names. It's fun to know each sim's name comes from their ancestors.
I have more rules, but this could be a good start :) It might be easier to see the pattern if you draw a mini family tree.
