I wouldn't mind the incorrect clues if there was a way to fix the situation and eventually arrest the right person, like your suggestion of calling a cold case, then reopening it later on or something. The problem is, once you have an incorrect clue (especially if the clues conflict like being Ambitious and being a teenager), you can't arrest anybody and you're forever stuck on that case unless you use cheats to reset everything.
