So I'm playing the detective career in GTW and my Sim started gathering clues together to call an APB and go arrest the suspect. Her clues were that the suspect was both a teen and possessed the Ambitious trait, but this is impossible, since teens cannot have the Ambitious trait.I sent her to the APB thing anyway and tried to do my best with what I had to work with. The clues were1. female2. teen3. wearing tank top4. wearing skirt5. ambitious trait6. blondeWell the only blonde teenage female on that lot was not wearing a skirt or a tank top and she definitely didn't have the Ambitious trait because teens can't have that trait. I tried arresting her but because she didn't match all the criteria, my Sim took a hit to her job performance for making an unlawful arrest. There was no other Sim anywhere around who came close to matching the criteria at all, I nearly drove myself insane looking.Now I'm stuck because as far as I know, I can't just quit the case and start a new one, nor can I make an arrest because there is no such Sim in the world matching all the criteria, it's impossible for a Sim to be a teen and possess the Ambitious trait (and no, I have no mods that alter traits whatsoever, I don't have any custom traits, either). Is there any way I can somehow scrap this case or start over or something? The only solution I've found is just choosing not to follow my Sim to work ever again so her job performance will increase by itself, but that's a terrible solution because it totally kills the point of the detective career and the GTW expansion all together.

Just an update on how to "fix" this career glitch, though it's not really a fix. This is what I did to reset that completely borked case.1. Have your Sim quit their job with their cell phone.2. Pull up the cheat console with CTRL+SHIFT+C.3. Type in "Careers.add_career Detective" and hit Enter. This will put your Sim back in the Detective career.4. Type in "Careers.promote Detective" and hit Enter. This will promote your Sim to the next level.5. Repeat step 4 until your Sim is at the level they were at before.That's the only way I've come up with to fix that glitch. It would be so much easier if we just had an option to scrap the case and start a new one.

Oh no! That's terrible; hopefully they fix it so you don't need to cheat around it!

In real life, some of the "evidence" is irrelevant or incorrect, so I would think it should be that way in the Sims too! Plus, what about Cold Cases? Our sims should be able to drop a case and pick it up sometime later, with some little bonus for clearing a cold case :D

The problem is, once you have an incorrect clue (especially if the clues conflict like being Ambitious and being a teenager), you can't arrest anybody and you're forever stuck on that case unless you use cheats to reset everything.

I understand having one or two false clues but usually all of them are completely wrong for me. My clues were Female Elder Grey Hair Wearing SkirtIn the end the culprit was a male young adult with black hair. I guess it's time for the police station to find new informants.

Simmers are sometimes finding that the eventual suspect turns out to not reflect the clues that they have been given, and the sims that do reflect the clues are not the required suspect.
Try arresting other sims that don't reflect the clues that you have and see if one of them are the suspect

@rosemow I pushed the "Me too" button months ago. Still not fixed. I don't know if they actually check those. But thanks for trying!

The Developers look at the threads on the AHQ EA site. They are often posting on various threads. Sometimes they post asking for further information or for save files from simmers affected by the issues. Even when they don't comment, they are still reading and investigating issues that are reported there.

Just had an odd case where my clues were:
-teen
-blond hair
-male
-materialistic
-tank top
-shorts

The only clue that was correct was male. How is this even possible...

Red Hair
Female
Teen
Wearing Blouse
Geek

I have arrested every teen in the world. I Have even snagged a few suspects who look nothing like the description because another sim pointed at them. No dice.

So far, my closest suspect is the stations lab tech... she's everything except the 'teen' part. She also never comes into work wearing uniform, and changes her outfit every day. Yesterday she was in rave gear, now she looks like a butler.

Shes mocking me. My sim will die before she catches her nemesis.

All of my clues pointed out to one sim (female, elder, wearing skirt and tank top, gloomy, grey hear - eeeverything matched) and when I tried to arrest her I failed. Then I tried arresting a random sim (which was adult female wearing dress, with brown hair, was not gloomy) and I got it right.
Why do we even bother looking for "evidence" or collecting"the clues" in a notebook if it will be 90% wrong?
I read that some clues were supposed to be wrong, but in this amount - it's just ridiculous.

I'm having this issue too. So annoying! After a few days I sent my detective alone, I join and there is "interrogate suspect" in the tasks but there is no suspect to be found at the station. It lets me issue APB, so I go to find suspect and there is no one single sim at the place, so I can't arrest anyone. I tried the Shift+click cheat and went to the Detective Day Event and all it did was create a bigger mess. UGH! So I'll have to do the quit and cheat back in the job.
