Well, I play a very unrealistic game so I would probly have one of my witches just "dedeathify" the ghost of that sim if I wanted them back. There are other ways to turn them back into living sims afaik (like ambrosia) but the spell is the easiest for me (and fits my way of playing).
But I have rolled back too, when one of the kids fell victim to the "polarbear plunge" a long time ago (before ROM) so...
You do what fits your way of play or story.
