Good Grades What does it get you?

Excuse all my newbie questions - In Sims 3, good grades equaled better traits or a chance to pick your trait. I haven't played near that much, but it doesn't see like it works that way in 4...what do good grades get you in this game?

  • If you’re a grade A student you start at level 3 of careers rather then 1, not sure if it affects if you a choose a trait though, I don’t think so
  • All I've noticed is good grades get a higher career entry level. A "bad upbringing" doesn't limit trait selection on aging up, the closest is getting bad character values from parenthood as additional traits to your chosen ones

every grade your sim gets as both a kid and a teen gives them a hidden trait (examples will be below). the 'grade a high school student' one does, indeed, bump initial career progress up a few levels

this sim was average through their childhood (i actually aged them up every stage from baby to young adult without playing them. quite a lot of reuses of one birthday cake, that:

this sim was studious in grade school but started slacking off once they became a teen:

this one was the reverse of the previous:

    and...well, you get the idea

Hidden trait...had woohoo!? So how does that show in game? Does their "first time" not give a "first time" notification?
  • One thing I noticed is that sims with grade A don't wear uniforms of any sort. They just put on their Everyday wears and leave for schools.

None of my kids wear uniforms. They all wear their everyday to school.

    Same.
  • Ah, I really wish grades, actions, reputation or whatever would have some impact on what traits we can pick! Conflicting traits are blocked as you can't be both good and mean, but mostly I find there are too many to choose from.

Even more I wish the game would lock some unavailable Ambition options, or at least suggest the better suitable Ambitions, based on what trait we already chose.

Also if you have Parenthood, and your kids develop good traits from solid parenting, like responsible, I believe they get a career boost from that as well, and they get special interactions. For example I have a YA female sim who earned the polite trait, and she can do a polite introduction with other Sims where she goes up and shakes their hand when introducing herself. Now that she's in the politician career track it looks so realistic to have walk up and shakes hands with people before she launches into her rhetoric.

Now that is cool. Going to raise my sims other values besides responsibility, never really knew what else the other values did, but now I want to check it out
