Goodbye for now Sims 4

I have today decided to uninstall The Sims 4 from my computer. And I would like to share why. It may not make any difference, it will most likely never reach the developers for the game. But I write it up any way. Doing nothing, never accomplished anything.

We all play The Sims differently, so your opinions are bound to be different, and thats fine. This is just my opinion.

For me the game has taken a wrong direction. And have for some time. I have never before owned this few expansions for a Sims series.
For me, the most fun part has always been the deep gameplay elements and exploring the limits and edges of the gameplay. The Sims 4 simply does not do this for me. I can no longer find any interesting things to discover, and those I have discovered have left me disappointed. Mainly because the road to discovery can be more boring than I like, and there is little to no reward in the end.

To generally sum that up. I think there are to many gameplay options left out. I feel like I paid too much for all the expansion packs, extra packs and whatever they are called. The content is too thin, in the lack of better words. And previous game series have gone a lot deeper into the content and theme for their expansions.

I don't need adventure style gameplay, but I need more for my sims to do. And what they can do, to be more deep, it all becomes very repetitive and boring very quickly, and ultimately doesn't seem to have any unlockable rewards in the end.

And to add further, I think the Sims 4 is the most buggy of the games I have ever played. Usually I don't have to play more than 15 minutes before the first bug attempts to disturb my gameplay. And usually after an hour I can stand the game no longer. And is has been this way for awhile now.
Many of the bugs have existed for a long time, they have been addressed more than once, but persists. And with every update that fixes a bug, new ones appear.
And I am tired of rebuilding my neighborhoods, in an attempt to see if my save-game have become corrupted for 117th time. (And for clarification, I have used custom content)

Thin gameplay and tons of bugs makes it easy for me to say goodbye for now.
There will be no need to reply to this thread, as I will most likely not read it. I do not intend to visit the forums any time soon.

  • Have uninstalled for the 2nd time for all the reasons the op stated. I still look in here ever so often but Im done with it. Question! why would someone that likes the game as it is come into a thread saying Im leaving (baffling).
  • Well couldn't help myself to check back to my thread, to see if anyone even bothered reading it. It has been an interesting read through.

I posted what I did, as a last ditch attempt to call out the developers, since having an actual feedback/support line is beneath them. Every time you call EA with something about Sims 4, they direct you here. At least that have been my experience.

I don't like to leave Sims 4 behind, because there are parts of the game that are brilliantly constructed (example: Multitasking sims). But it sort of disappears in bugs and problems for me. And if I can't play for a couple of hours where things just work, it sort of defeats the purpose for me. I work with IT every day, so games for me are just a way of "unplugging" my brain from work.

I have many Sims 4 hours behind me, and I would love if it was better. I have played the Sims since I was 10, I could barely understand English when I started. I have been with the Sims since the start, the first Sims.

And I remember blowing off as many things as I could when an expansion was released. And this continued with The Sims 2, and in some degree Sims 3, some of the expansions was more time consuming than others. Though that said, Sims 3 had its dark moments. Sims 4 was troublesome from the start too, but they got it working, and some expansions came out. Having tried a lot of what the game offers, boredom with the game started. But it seems in the last 6 months or so, that the bugs have taken over the game, and just won't go away, no matter how much the game is patched.

When The Sims 3 was released bugs was also all over, but they did get them fixed. I played the game when it first came out, but left it for a years time before I returned. But then it worked well enough, and I really got into it.

So I might definitely return to Sims 4 in the future, right now, it just needs a timeout.

I do play the game on a Mac, with scarce hard drive space, because I have a SSD drive. So if I don't play it, it goes.
And I decided to abandon the forum because my activity here is mostly trying to help people deal with technical issues. But I couldn't control my curiosity, and ended up reading this thread. Which I didn't expect to find with this many posts in it.

But thanks to you all for reading my "rant" and crafting some really well written posts. Know they were read.
  • Hey Simmers,

While this thread started off with the intention to provide feedback, this thread has derailed and turned into plain baiting and provoking each other.

I understand that some of you might feel frustrated and want to let off steam, however, this is not the way to go about it.
We always love to hear your constructive criticism and your feedback, but mere venting doesn't add to any discussion and doesn't contribute to productive conversations and the health of this community.

I'm asking you to be mindful of how you engage with each other on this forum as well as of the topics you choose to talk about, please keep things civil and in line with the forum rules.

Due to the reasons stated above, I'm closing this thread. Cheers.
