Having a Lousy Day of Gaming

I was playing my game earlier this morning, but then shut down, (dummy me, I hit the wrong button) I wanted to simply squish the game, and put my computer on sleep mode while I grabbed a quick shower. Came back a few minutes later to restart my game only to discover a pack was missing. I had the opportunity to see which one in the save I was hoping to return to, and it was City Living. That one is important because without that one, my Rock Star likely wouldn't have his ability to sing! I checked my packs and it showed it as installed. I switched from the EA App to Origin and tried again. Still, it shows the pack 'missing'. So, I decided to do a game repair. EA App (since I had just stumbled across repair game option) but City Living failed to load. I went back to Origin and tried again. Got an actual message as to what was wrong. I filled out an error report. The long and the short of it is, I can't play my game. Oh, I could try, but the messaged suggested if you saved without the missing items, there would be no way to retrieve them later. Face/palm.

It's late Friday, in my game. The Starlight Accolades is on Sunday and my Sim is up for yet another Best Song. Plus, if this isn't fixed before we get the Patch, I'm afraid my wait will be longer than everyone else's. Even my ancestral saves showed the lack of City Living. I'm in a pickle at the moment and feeling a bit sad over this. Guess I'm just going to have to occupy myself running down my ancestors, instead. Not what I had planned for today. While I was busy playing this morning, one of my Sims died, but was saved via the Death Flower. I have such a story to write up, but I'm stalled out.

Thanks for letting me vent.

Did you get it fixed yet? Have you tried disabling City Living and then re-enabling it again in Origin? (sorry I don't use EA app yet) This would totally wreck my day, so I understand. Wondering if a total uninstall and reinstall would help? It would be a pain in the neck to do that though.
  • Oh no! :( I'm sorry, it sucks when things like that happen. I haven't ever had a pack disappear on me like that before, so the only suggestion I can offer is the same as joleaco, a total uninstall and reinstall. It still doesn't get back the progress you lost by leaving without saving, but at least you'll (hopefully) be able to play again. :/

theres so many packs I cannot afford to lose for a second in my save since I've used them all around
I hope we can still get pc update with Origin

I tried the total game folder refresh, which is essentially the same as uninstalling and reinstalling. It didn't work. I ended up just shutting it all down. I did notice that my computer needed to update. Today, I was very much surprised that when I powered up my rig again, it did a repair of my C:drive! :open_mouth: I deleted was was the 'new' folder and changed the name of the _Olde folder and did a game repair once more. I'm happy to report, all is well. This leaves me wondering if my C:drive was at fault all along?

Whatever it was, I'm really glad it's fixed and you can play again! Enjoy. :)
