Help me move a pond!

I created a beautiful backyard pond for a new house and I want to move the pond to the other side of the lot. when I put the pond in a room to move it as a whole, the pond disappears and the dry hole remains in the original location. Please tell me there is a way I can move the pond without having to completely redo it?

  • Sorry, I'm no help at all!

I too would love to know if there's a way, because I had wanted to save some "landscaping" from a house that I really liked the backyard oasis vibe but I didn't like the house.

I'm going to assume since the pond is created with the terrain tools that it just changed the actual ground, and is not an object that could be placed inside a room to move.
  • You need to save the lot to the gallery first. Then place it in such a way that the pond is where you want it to be on the empty lot. Then you can try to move the house with move house option.
Another way to do it would be to place the lot from the gallery on a bigger lot size in such a way that the pond and house are where you want them to be relative to each other, then save again to library and finally place it on your desired lot size. In both cases some landscape elements may need to be redone or adjusted.
  • The thing is that when i go into the gallery in the "rooms" section, I found tons of ponds ready to download and can place anywhere on a lot. How can I do that with my pond? I feel there is a very simple solution and I'm just not seeing it.

You can only download a pond as a lot, I think, because it's a landscape feature. You cannot put it in a room like a tree or a bush. You could try use the import lot feature and place the pond part into a small enough lot that would afterwards allow you to place it into a large lot without completing overwriting the entire lot. In this way you can combine features from several lots into one. The ponds you see in the gallery are most probably created with the pool tool and that one uses the room feature.
  • ok thank you! i figured it out! I was able to save the surrounding landscaping. I just had to dig the hole again and fill it up with water so i'm all set.

A lot of those ponds that were rooms, were made with the fountain/pool tool and not the terrain manipulation tool.
