Help, Please, It's Not the Gate, But Erik Who Is Cursed!

I do have a back up of this save, however, to switch out at this point, I may as well start him over from university, as I have no real way of tracking which songs he's won an Accolade for and where to pick things up again. I did move some of my saves to a brand new game folder, however. Now, I'm wondering if Erik is the one who is cursed? I just moments ago moved the family into their new house in the new location. Erik has both of his horses and it's a rather cool Spring, so he was lighting a fireplace, and I got that popup that there was a fire. A FIRE. I look around, of course, and guess who found the fire? If you said Erik, you just earned a chocolate chip cookie. Face/palm (If I had any I'd eat about a dozen of them right now, I'm so stressed out.) That glass of juice sure is looking good about now.

Question: If I take the family into My Library (and to do so I'd have to roll back a save, prior to their move, or lose both horses) would this right whatever is wrong with Erik? Or is there some other way to remove this malady? (The game wants him dead, again.)

Or must I simply exchange the save for the back up and try my best to sort out just where he was in space and time and go forward from there?

Please, and thank you, in advance.

This reminds me of when you had all of those random fires happening at his mansion in Henford that time. I second installing fireguard on all of Erik's fireplaces. I wanted to mention, that in my experience, fireguard doesn't always work. I once had a sim family put fireguard on their fireplace, and it wasn't an hour later their living room carpet caught fire. There's a mod by littlemssam here: https://www.curseforge.com/sims4/mods/rbf-fireguard-means-no-fire

Using this mod fixes the issue that causes fireguard not to work. Hope everything works out for your save. :)

Fires are brutal. Whenever my sims move to a new place, the first thing I do is install fireguard. Those rare occasions I forget, some fool will set themselves on fire on day one.
Erik must've done something to impress the grim for him to be so eager to claim him as soon as possible.

You know I stopped doing that when it appeared the firesafe was no longer working. :open_mouth: Let me guess, it got fixed in one of those fix-it patches? If so, you can bet your sweet Bippy I will have all three fireplaces in the new home fireproofed.

It sounds to me that Grim is a huge fan of Erik and wants to meet him. :D

I'm glad you have a backup. Crisis averted?

Well, I do know that Grim asked Erik for an autograph when the entity was there to reap the soul of one of Erik's fans. :open_mouth: I haven't changed out the saves, just yet. I'm still playing this one. Erik was able to extinguish the fire. He took a shower and went and gave a concert and sat for a photoshoot, soot clear. Phew!

If anything more untoward occurs, then I will exchange the saves. But, I'd rather not, as that starts before Erik won his 29th Best Song. Right now, he's four Sim days away from Best Song #30.

Thank you for that. I will look into said mod, but ever since her 21-say seasons instead of 28 days proved to interfere with the Starlight Accolate Show, as in it messed it up so badly, the mixologists, the Bouncers, led by Thorne Bailey if he was there all walked out of the building. No Host ever showed up. Basically, it was a wasted evening. :open_mouth: I shall use it with caution. First sign of trouble, though, and I'll have that puppy uninstalled faster than you can say "Roll Out the Red Carpet . . ."

As for this part: "as I have no real way of tracking which songs he's won an Accolade for", could you track them in a paper journal beside your computer or in a separate Word file as an additional back up?

Actually, I do have them tracked on paper. What I meant by that statement is that trying to go back to when Cadence aged up to Child might cause some difficulty as to just where Erik was on said list. I mark each song as it's licensed and nominated, and then highlight the title if he wins. Not knowing where I was in that process would be confusing to figure out. I don't have a set day in the Sim week where he licenses the next song, to know if he's already done so. But, as it stands, I am still using the same save (so far, so good, no need to switch to the backup), so I don't have to go through such hoops.

But those are terrific ideas, thank you!

I've had fires start from fireplaces as soon as the household loads. This often happens in my sim self's daughter Ayla's household in the Autumn and Winter months.

This reminds me that I need someone to fireproof all three fireplaces, just in case it sticks.
