Homeschooling in PARENTHOOD
It would be wonderful to have a Homeschooling option in Sims 4! I think the best fit would be to update the Parenthood Game pack for this.
Why?
1. In real life, it is the parents/guardian's responsiblity to withdraw dependents from any compulsory govt. schooling, and organise home arrangements. It's the parents that also take on organising classes and supervising roles. In the game, homeschooling could become a part of the parenting skill.
2. Projects are already developed with this pack, and helping children with projects could be a part of the homeshooling experience.
3. Bringing new life into older content can only be a good and exciting new thing! :)
How it could work:
Parent/guardian uses phone or computer to enrol a child and/or teen in a homeschooling program.
This action will:
1. Make the students stop attending their elementary/high school; they are now "homeschooled" as their career.
2. Enrol the parent in a Stay at home Job: Homeschooler. When asked what their career is, it will say: Homeschooler - or whatever title the team deems worthy.
3. Add a "mentor" trait to the parent - will now be able to interact with their children developing skills.
4. Re-name the "Homework" book to a "Study" Book, perhaps with a new texture too?
The parent now has a Career similar to the Work From Home careers that began with City Living, with just one to three goals to achieve during school days.
Suggested Work Goals:
(Museum, Park, Pool and National Park are already base game lots and child/teen friendly i.e. coded to spawn this age group, so are perfect
for field trips.)
Daily Task for Students: Attend homeschooling activity.
Even though it is the child or teen who undergoes the education, ultimately it is the parent who takes on the responsibility of homeschooling, so it's befitting this experience becomes available in a pack called "Parenthood" - a part of the parenting experience for those who choose it.
What do you think? Nothing entirely new, just a way of putting existing content together to create a different and fresh experience. For players like me who love to rotate through many different households, this could provide a fun new option for parents with their kids and teens.
