I was with my young kids (two boys) in Woolworths (oh, how I miss that store!) and we were looking for a new game for them to play on the X Box. They asked me if we could have The Sims and I had no clue what it was, but I read the cover of the box and it sounded okay so I agreed.
They got me to have a go of it and I quite enjoyed it, but was never one for console games - then I heard that my mum had the PC version and was giving away the entire boxed set! It was quite old by then, and I did enjoy it but when we were back in good old Woolworths again a few months later we discovered that there was a Sims 2. Even that wasn't newly released because there were already a number of expansion packs for it on the shelves, but I got the base game and was entirely hooked from then onwards.
