Good Question! I'm interested to read everyone's response.
I was interested in getting Sims from the start, but we were broke off our butts, so I didn't buy it right away. I had played SimCity when it first released (yes, I'm that old), so I just knew I'd love it. Well, in 2008, Hurricane Ike hit and our whole downstairs had to be gutted. We lived in a townhome back then, and we all (me, hubby, 2 toddlers who are now adults lol, and a dog) crammed into two rooms upstairs. For a year I had no couch to sit on and only went downstairs to cook and get things we needed. I was depressed, to say the least and my house felt out of control. So my sweet husband bought me an on sale version of Sims 2. It had the apartment, base game and one other, I don't remember. I loved the apartments. Anyway that was my way of feeling in control of my home for that year, and I was hooked. I skipped Sims 3 altogether, and bought Sims 4 a couple months after release. I don't remember exactly. Now those toddlers are all grown up and all of my kids are little gamers.

Sims is a great escape. I also played SimCity way back in '89 as well as SimCity 2000 in '93. Loved them. I would build a map and build up a great city, then turn on all the disasters and watch it get destroyed.

Yeah it was great. I remember thinking while I played, if only we could go into each house and mess with how that's set up. Well...Sims was perfect for me.
