How do I use a vampire sim as a "template" to create a human sim?

Originally I was very excited about the Realm of Magic coming, but now I realised I can't make my vampire into a spellcaster. So, I decided I'd be prepared to give up of her vampirism and then start a completely new game with her as human, who becomes a spellcaster.

What I just tried, was I used the drought of reconfiguration to remove all her vampire strengths and weaknesses. After that I used another drink to cure her from vampirism. Then I took her to CAS and saved her as a new household and moved her into a fresh game. Unfortunately she's not able to eat human food even after I did that. I've read it can happen, but I thought that removing the strengths and weaknesses first and then moving her into a new fresh game would help. But it didn't.

So, now I'm prepared to create her again. I only want her looks, nothing else, I can give her the same traits and use cheats to get her some of her skills back. Is there a way to save an existing sim as a "template", like those suggestion sims you get, when you're starting to create a new sim?

I also tried to create her a twin, but she was still a vampire, too.

Also, I don't really want to use mods, so that's not an option.

  • I tried it once, but it's a few years ago.
All I did was curing the vamp and then I put her into my gallery. I downloaded the gallery Sim and it worked.
She kept all her skills and job level but no money or inventory stuff.
  • You could try to make your sim a twin in the genetics tool. It will not be a perfect copy though, the game struggles with things like chins or nose size. But it's kinda close and you only have to adjust.
Otherwise like CelSims said, GTW cloning machine works.

Thanks! Actually, just after I finished writing this post, I thought about the twin thing again. So now I used my humanized vampire saved in the library and created her a twin. She looks closely enough my original vampire, I can't really tell the difference. So, she's a human, and when I tried, she was able to eat human food. Now I'll only delete the original from the household, and then cheat her into all the skills my original had.

Thanks everyone, I think my problem may be solved :)

    Glad you found a solution.

If only they would fix all the vampire bugs.

If we can’t have vampires spellcasters we should at least be able to cure vampires in order to make them spellcasters without having to deal with all these bugs which make cured vampires virtually unplayable.

Totally agree! I would rather have just used the original sim, but I'm glad I found a way around the problems.
  • Pretty sure if you add a gallery saved sim into a household via CAS, it places them as brand new sim/ as a template you can work from. So they will lose any skills or progress you saved them into the gallery with.

If you move them into a house directly from the gallery/library they will have all their saved skills, job and history intact etc. At least this was the case, I noticed they’ve altered editing households, now if you remove a sim it takes money from the household, which is new, but a seperate issue lol

Do you mean, take the sim I saved in gallery and then make another sim as her new family? Unfortunately it doesn't seem to work, because as I tried the twin thing (which worked) I first moved both of them into a house, which would mean I moved a new family into a household, but the original sim still had all her skills.
