my child on the sims 4 just kept playing the gaming rig while she was starving and had very low hygiene, I tried making her go get food but the gaming rig wasn't done until she finnished so i cancelle...

If you lost the child and you didn't save the game as of yet just exit the game without saving and it'll come back to where you last saved the game. That's what I did and I got the child back.
