Interesting to read all the different reasons for why folks pronounce it a certain way.
I guess what feels natural to us also depends on how we speak as individuals.
I pronounce it ‘livmowd’, which I could almost say with my mouth closed. It’s kinda one sound, like a pleasant mumble. Whereas In order to say ‘laiv mode’ I would have to make that extra effort and open my mouth wider...even if I’m only thinking it. Call me lazy.
Although ‘Live TV’ and ‘Live Concert‘ would always be ‘laiv’ to me. I’ve never heard it pronounced differently by a native English speaker, but I suppose change in pronunciation and meaning of words is inherent to language. ?
