I'm a rotational player of all the premades with aging mostly off.
I've been using the same save since I started playing 2 years ago, but working on improving each household keeps the game fresh.
It can be a small objective (redecorate the living room, throw a party) or a big objective (5stars vet clinic, art gallery with all paintings for sale, new job). Bigger ones keep me busy for weeks with my limited play time.
I also try new things as much as possible, and avoid playing different families the same way. Each fills a niche to match any mood I'd be in. Big, single, poor, rich, lenient, strict, homely, party animals, if I want to play it I have it.
