Sure the sims can get tedious after a while, and you will start to realize that frankly without a challenge or a storyline to facade the game it's pretty much taking care of someone over an amount of time till they electrocute themselves or something.
But what always brings me back to the game is the widespread of content and such. I always make various of saves and i don't start them for the intended purpose of saving them for another time where i have hit rock bottom. Plus not to mention that you don't always have to do the normal, do what your sims needs to survive and then have fun with it! The whole purpose is that the game isn't real life- so you can do whatever you want, and if you mess up; by all means scrap and start fresh!
