I love the manage household option. I regularly use it to switch my played sims between households. In my previous game the Mom and Dad lived in separate households and I would move the kids back and forth to spend time with each parent. I would move a couple of the kids friends in for sleepovers. Something I've thought about but not got around to yet is running a daycare and moving in toddlers daily and then putting them back into their own households at the end of the day. Also convenient for toddler play dates.
