I'm really liking it so far. Only two complaints I have are the overabundance of conch shells and the fact that Makoa Kealoha (looks like he might be the dude from the trailer) is already married when the game starts :'( lol
My sim has a secret affair with Makoa.
They even have a son! :D - Hermitgirl7 years agoSeasoned AceIt's gorgeous I can't stop looking around as I play.
I'm loving all the activities and trying to fit them into work schedules as I'm playing premades right now. I could go on and on about the activities I've tried .. Snorkeling was really nice to me... you can't see from under the water but you dive and dip in a bit... and seeing all the beautiful coral/plants and fish make it fun. Love interacting with dolphins and making friends. The canoe is especially nice to me...love how much you can do on it.. even homework! Really enjoying how different fitness levels will result in better swimming techniques and more tricks ect on the aqua-zips. I love how beautiful the shells are that you can collect also.. I want to display these and use them as decor.
Other person favorite things... I finally figured out how to pee in the ocean. What a relief!
My new favorite lot trait is Ancient Spirits one. It can give you nice boosts if you are nice to them. I haven't tried it the other way around yet :). It kind of reminds me of when they offer we boost weeks game-play wise... but you can have it way more frequently. Like a built in cheat where you don't need reward points ect. It's just a nice add in and I plan on using it often.
CAS and build buy.. omg I cannot say enough good things there.
I haven't tried, seen or experienced so many things yet.. sharks, fireballs, the careers, most of the foods (learning.. preparing). Living off-grid. Seeing the turtles, fighting with litterers, going in the caves, becoming a mermaid from kelp and exploring being a mermaid, summoning the elementals ect are things I can think of right now.
The spa pack works especially well with this pack to me. I'm putting meditation, yoga and massage stuff in so many places..
Overall I'm really enjoying this pack. - LaBlue03147 years agoSeasoned Ace

I was bummed out when I saw that he is married too, but I found out that he is my sim's co-worker, and he ended up pursuing my sim. Let's just say he has another baby on the way. I haven't checked yet, but the next time I am in my game I'm going to check out his household to see what is going on there. - paigeisin57 years agoSeasoned AceI am currently waiting for some of my most important mods to be updated, but so far it's keeping me pleasantly entertained. I came away from the Q&A live stream a bit disappointed. From the way they first explained the island and how it would change depending on how well our Sims took care of the environment, I thought that would be ongoing. But it seems that once the island is cleaned up and the ecosystem has been restored, there is nothing to do except enjoy it. Much like StrangerVille in that respect. Unless one revives the Mother Plant and you can set the world at the level of weirdness each player wants to have. SimGuruJill did say they were going to release a cheat code so we can reset Sulani back to where it was in the beginning, but that was not my understanding when I first heard about the pack. My bad, I guess. I should have done a bit more research before getting my hopes up.
I am enjoying the pack, but once again the teams have missed some opportunities that would have added more complex gameplay. The fact the Sims that litter or poach will face consequences is a nice touch, but I was hoping for something more. Such as the beaches being hit with debris after a monsoon, and our Sims in the Conservationist career being called upon to go out and clean it up. Failure to do that would result in the beach becoming unusable until the debris is taken care of. But that isn't the case. Everything just stays the same once the island has been restored. There is no middle ground. Or anything to do to keep the island from reverting back to it's original state because once it is perfect, it will stay perfect.
So many new glitches! I've been playing Island Living less than forty eight hours and I can already see I am going to need more mods to add to the ones I have now. I hope Sims4 Studio is updated soon and has a batch fix for some of the CC I have. I went through my CC folder yesterday and deleted a lot of files that were older, and because of the new tanning option some of my CC skins don't work properly now. But I guess that's a good thing as I have room for new CC that will no doubt come along soon as CC creators start doing recolors of the new meshes. Which are awesome, by the way. So many new clothing options! And the new furnishings are gorgeous.
There is a lot to like about Island Living, but at the same time there are a few disappointments also. Which was totally expected. There is no way for the teams to know what everyone wants, then implement those wants. I am satisfied with it as far as the world goes because it is so beautiful, and it's nice to see our Sims swimming in the ocean, or interacting with the new locals. And I have to say the residents of Sulani are the nicest ones we have had so far. It's really cute when my Sims drink a bit too much Kava and end up sleeping it off on a lounge chair. :D It adds a nice touch to the laid back island vibe. There is a lot more to do and explore, so my initial thoughts on Island Living might change over time. But at this point, I give it a 9 out of 10 rating. It's a nice expansion pack. Same with Makoa. And he keeps showing up at my mermaid's house late at night and randomly calling her wanting to hang out. He's also my sim's coworker and neighbor. I don't want her to be a homewrecker and she's now got a man, but it's like Makoa is trying to go for it.- Sigzy_297 years agoLegendLoving the pack so far! I'm on a never ending quest to discover the hidden mermaid cove.

This had me rolling! He is a literal player, but that’s just how it be! ???- I'm loving it! I've been in build mode a lot as I set up the world. Moved the bar, made the caldera camp a museum, and I took over the old bar lot for my sims to live at. I wanted them in the village and close to the activities and the locals because they are going to establish themselves here as part of the community.
Maybe down the road they will move to a water front lot, but that will be after they've done the conservation thing and gotten involved in the politics and preservation of the Sulani Island chain. (maybe they will be "gifted" a piece of land by the elder woman before she passes on.) - ck2137 years agoLegend

What is Island Living like for you?
Anything else comment down below!
It's not exactly what I wanted in a Tropical Island pack and I wasn't planning to get it until University gets announced.
But I was intrigued at making it the kind of pack I can use with work-arounds, so I wanted to try it out.
I had my sims buy a house zoned as a retail business. It's basically a vacation home.
It's very pretty and the ocean sounds are so relaxing.
That's what I mainly wanted it for, so I can give my sims a change of pace from their ordinary lives in the other worlds.
So I tried it out with my celebrity sims from Del Sol Valley. The paparazzi were so annoying and they came inside the house despite locked doors. I gave up on it, sent them back to Del Sol Valley, and sold the retail property.
I then had Yuki and Candy Behr buy it and things are so much better.
It's a bit annoying to have to call in for vacation time everyday, but it works basically.
I made over the Sand Bar bar to be more of a party place and I really love the lot.
This makes Sulani feel more like a tourist destination now, but that's how I am playing it anyway.
My Celebrity sims giving the vacation home (retail store lot) a test run.
The whole story in pictures:Spoiler
Paparazzi arrives and heads to the ladder so he can climb onto the deck.
I removed the door so he can't get in.
This one is locked and temporarily keeps him out, but...
...there must be an action that they do that does not recognize a locked door on a retail lot.
So back to Del Sol Valley for my famous sims.
Candy Behr and Yuki take it over, adding some more color to the place.
That's Candy getting a tan, au naturel.
I made over the Sand Bar bar.
Yuki is feeling moody because she didn't like the fruit salad Candy made for breakfast.
It's still early so they play cards for fun.
I really like this place.
Melonie was one of my Celebrity sims that owned the vacation house previously.
She is visiting Sulani on her own. I see she has a tan.
Candy is the one with a deep tan.
I sent them out for some snorkeling to pass the time.
Later that evening the bar is packed with sims.
My famous sims are there getting all the attention.
And this is a mermaid.
I know because I had went into CAS to edit her and discovered she was a mermaid.
Too bad they used up most of their vacation time already.
I want them to get to know her. They will have to invite her over to Windenburg when they get back.
I am glad that these celebs are my sims, otherwise I would be highly annoyed with them. :D
So great place.
I just have to get to know more natives and invite them along so there are more islanders represented in this place. - SimAlexandria7 years agoSeasoned Ace

I love it so far. I do have a few grips about actions mermaids can/cannot do because they are mermaids when it comes to them being in the Conservationist career since it limits them. I don't know if it's a bug or not, since it prevents them from fully doing the most to succeed and climb the career ladder.
I'm so used to all the other worlds where it usually rains or snows, depending on the temperature, every few days or so that I thought there was something wrong until it finally started to rain and rained for a few days during winter (started the game in summer and had no precipitation until a couple days into winter).
I do wish that there were notifications that would pop up when there are events occurring around Sulani, especially if they're happening in a different neighborhood than the one your Sim(s) is in.
Who's the sim in your avi? she's gorgeous.
Thank you! She's one of my creations, Ashika Belle.

I've just uploaded her to the gallery if you're interested in DLing her.
I just downloaded her as , hope that's okay. :-) thank you!
