You're right, its one of the things that bugs me the most about ts4. The lack of animations and simulation. I know previous games had things like doors auto opening instead of an animation and I could live with that. However, now it's just corners constantly being cut, no bed making animations, no "picking up" animations. (Sims no longer actually pick up plates of food and many other things)
Another thing I miss is Sims actually having to buy food. Grocery Shopping and all. I do see some people that prefer it this way as it "saves time" or whatever but I do prefer my Sims actually simulating things instead of some magic, easy mumbo jumbo.
I suppose im just a nitty gritty player. I loved having to make the beds, I love the simulation of having to trek to the grocery store weekly to stock up on food. etc etc
