- I like to have a variety of restaurants as well at varying price points. I have an edited Chez Llama with the experimental type dishes on the menu. A diner that serves burgers and similar types of food, a casual place for brunch, a fancier Italian restaurant, a restaurant which lumps in all the east asian cuisines, another restaurant which has the other ethnic dishes from San Myshuno and Selvadorada, a seafood place, and finally a pub style one that's got vampire friendly items on the menu.

@Patrice You need the Dine Out game pack to have functional restaurants. Once you have it, you place them like any other lot.- Restaurant is my favorite lot also, but they never work as I intend so I recently got rid of all but two. I just got city living, and took advantage of the tagine meal and some moroccan cc to build a beautiful moroccan rooftop greenhouse restaurant. This has become my favorite lot. It's not without its faults as I find with any community lot - there is never anyone at the piano unless my sim hires them, and no one uses that hookah thing either.
The other I've kept is the tin diner in oasis spring because it really suits the environment. I'm thinking of re-working that into a bigger lot with a roller skating rink and it'll be a roller derby diner. This would make it interesting enough for me to visit but then I doubt anyone will be using the roller rink because thats just not how sims restaurants work lol. - Thank you so much StormKeep, now that I know that, see I learned something new! have a goodnight, and a great day!
- I have a total of 20 in one save (didn't realize I had that many) and 11 in another save.

This is me as well.
Willow Creek: Family Restaurant/Diner
Oasis Springs: Burger Joint
Newcrest: Brunch restaurant
Windenburg: Seafood
Brindleton Bay: Vegetarian
Del Sol Valley: Fancy experimental food place
San Myshuno: World cuisine (all the CL and JA foods)
No restaurants in Forgotten Hollow (too small and dark for me) or Magnolia Promenade (I have other entertainment venies there: karaoke bar, nightclub, lounge and bar; my Sims can always grab a bar bite at one of those venues).
I like having different restaurants for the variety. I also found out that if you have Seasons plus Dine Out, you can add the Grand Meal items to restaurant menus, Sims can order and eat them and it counts as fulfilling the Grand Meal holiday tradition, which is great for single Sims or couples without kids."Patrice;c-16933829" wrote:

There are 4 or 5 restaurants that came with Dine Out and should be in your Library. (That presumes you have Dine Out installed which is required for restaurant function.) Or you could go to the Gallery and search for lot type Restaurant for the lot size you want to use. The ones that came with the pack are all 30x20s but the Gallery can give a lot more variety. My restaurant in Brindleton Bay is only a 20x15, so you can pretty much use any size lot for a restaurant and it still functions. The main requirements for a restaurant are, IIRC, a chef kitchen object, a host station (where you go to get seated) and at least one waiter station (for the waiters) to clear the dirty dishes).
Once you place the lot in your game, you can edit the menu and the outfits for the chefs/hosts/wait staff. There are some preset menus to start with but it's a lot more fun to create your own especially if you have a lot of the packs since you can add recipes from any pack to your menus. If you have Backyard Stuff you can even add the drinks from that pack to the beverage menu, like lemonade and iced tea. That's one reason why it's nice to have multiple restaurants with different menus. You can also set the outfits for the restaurant staff (chefs/hosts/wait staff) and the dress code for the restaurant (I'll use party for some of my restaurants to get some use out of the category).
I haven't actually had a Sim run a restaurant so I can't address the procedure for that.- I think I have around 7 - 8 right now.
