Welp @Simsandra it reminds of Hong Kong. I had the pleasure to vacation there, and immediately San Myshuno reminded me of Hong Kong, not San Francisco. And I think the nod to Karaoke bars and all of the Asian names of many of the Sims & NPCs City Living are a nod to an Asian city not a USA city. Even if San Myshuno is an amalgamation of Asian cities.
Here are some pic comparisons that makes me think it is more akin to Hong Kong than any USA city.
