Yeah, I do feel the biggest gaps/harshest changes are between Child and Teen, and Adult and Elder. The elders look at least 70 to me. I play on Long Span or no Aging, with manual birthdays. So I address the Elder issue by giving the Adults wrinkles and greying hair (We need more greying hair!) when I figure they're pushing 60. They usually gain few pounds and dress a bit more conservatively.
The Child to Teen thing is a bit harder, tho, but I guess you could use more sophisticated clothing and hairstyles as someone suggested. Child CAS doesn't have a lot of that, tho, unless you want every kid to start wearing a leather jacket. :p
