I was reading job openings at EA's website and saw this on one of the descriptions "The Sims 4 has an extremely unique player base attracting a large young female-skewing audience." It got me thinking about how many of us don't fit into their intended target audience. I'm 30 (been playing the sims since I was 12) and a lot of my friends still play the sims too. I think the game is for people who are young at heart and some of us never quite grew up, but that is ok I dont' care I just don't tell anyone that I play Sims only my family.

The thing about the sims is a LOT of players began playing when the first game was released in 2000. I myself was only 8 but I've known many who were adults when they picked it up. I'm 27, going on 28 this year and still playing. I'm also not a girl lol.The dev team is honestly marketing to the wrong people imo. Teenage girls don't have the funds to keep buying all these packs. It's the adults with a bit of disposable income who have nostalgia for the game who are willing to spend the big bucks.

I'm soon to be 51. I can't believe it, I feel like I was just in my 20's. Time flies when you get older. I may be old but at least I'm a young Simmer, I started only 5 years ago and I've had so much fun with Sims 4. :)

I turned 51 in December. And I only got into the Sims at the beginning of TS3.I am also happy to report that my mother also loved The Sims, and played up until she died at 71.A lot of people have been playing since the beginning though, and I don't think they take that maturing base into account. I think there are a lot more over 30 players than they realise. And maybe a little more needs done to reflect that. Just a thought.

I'm with you on that. Sims 1 and later TS2 was ESSENTIAL to surviving my husband leaving c.2003. Nothing like making your ex build a fire and then pausing the game to add some walls lol.

Lets see...the last time I checked I was 61 - and I've been playing numerous games including The Sims since the 1980s. In addition to the Sims games I enjoy Cities Skylines, This War of Mine, Frostpunk, Age of Empires, Anno 1800 and many more. There are numerous people over 60 playing video games. Keep in mind that "video games" originated in the 1970s/80s when we were in our teens/early 20s. Not everyone became old and stogy. Your personality forms at around age 15 and thus gaming as a teen/young adult may lead to gaming for life.

As a 61 year old Sims 1, 2, 3 & 4 player whose 32 year old daughter also plays Sims 4 I agree with and appreciate your comment!

Precisely. I was 34 when Sims 1 was released in 2000, and started playing in 2003 when my then husband began playing away. He later left (2004), and The Sims helped me to keep my sanity. When your own life is falling apart being able to control the lives of Sims is incredibly helpful from a mental health perspective. I have looked into this and my thoughts are backed by studies. I have played Sims on and off for decades, and now at age 61 am really enjoying TS4. I can afford to buy any packs I like, though I do generally buy them on sale as there are sales every month or two.

I find it annoying that 60+ or 50+ are considered adequate for a very large group of people. No one would say 40- or 30-. If a group can be 20-29 or 40-49 why not do that for older people? I'm 61 and don't think that I should be put in the same age range as someone who is say 84. The fact is MANY older people are gamers. We have the time, the money and the ability to spend time playing games we love, ironically far more then younger people who may be busy with work, family or other responsibilities. I suggest 50-59, 60-69, 70-79, 80-89 and 90+.

Thank you! I wholeheartedly agree and am a lil disappointed the OG fans seem to be getting shafted in favor of appealing to the youngbloods but, what can you do ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

A lot of times I feel like I'm still in my 20's or 30's with what I like, just a few extra pains here and there. But then I look in the mirror to shave or brush my teeth and am like "who the #@!% is that old guy looking back?" lol

Anyway, started with The Sims (cant remember if I bought any expansions). Bought all the expansions for 2 and 3 as far as I can remember. So far with 4 I only have a few expansions and packs. I like 4 and enjoy playing ... it just seems to be missing "something" sometimes.

Oh yeah, and The Sims Medieval with the Pirates and Nobles expansion pack.

53 but my mind is like 30 lol, I have played the sims since the beginning , the sims 1,2,3 and 4 . I have been obsessed with the sims and I will never get tired of it
