I made a sim to be my heir's partner but I made a regular sim. She's all done but I want her to be a mermaid. I am willing to cheat as I'll play her from YA and up. Can it be done in CAS only?Also do babies had with mermaids have to chance of being mermaids from birth?

Eating one Mermadic Kelp turns a human sim into a mermaid. Mermadic Kelp can be found through beachcombing, beach-cleaning or exploring the cave on Mua Pel'am (credit to @ShadyLady_DQ as I didn't know this), or you can purchase them from the rewards store for 500 satisfaction points each. Eating two Mermadic Kelp as a mermaid turns a sim back into a human.And yes, babies born to a human and mermaid sim have a 50/50 chance to be mermaid, like the other occult states.If you aren't opposed to using cheats, you can use bb.showhiddenobjects and find Mermadic Kelp for free in Buy mode. As others have stated, there is no animation for turning into a mermaid, but you'll know it has worked if the sim gets an energized "Strange Sensations" moodlet. At this point, my sims don't have the "hydration" need replace "hygiene" until I actually send them to swim in the ocean, so it might be that last important step to actually turn your sim into a mermaid.https://i.imgur.com/pEoEJBx.png

I'm not sure if you could make a sim a mermaid without playing them, but you could always make them a mermaid then just mark them as unplayed in the household management bin, and they'll still act like every other NPC.

It should be noted that the cheats can sometimes result in things like vampires that can't earn points toward progression and whatnot. Since the mermaids use the same sort of progression system that the vampires do I imagine that similar problems could occur. If you're looking to make a preexisting sim into a mermaid I suggest just going the in-game route.

I do not remember the full path, but at one point I saw "Occult Commands" and then three options: Make vampire, make alien and a blank one. The blank one is the one you need, it turns a sim into a mermaid.(I had to go this route, because I wanted an existing sim to discover that his absent father had been a merman. So I created the father in CAS by means of "Play with genetics" and then had to cheat-mermanify him.)

I don't know (yet) the cheat to make an existing sim a mermaid, sorry.As for babies of mermaids/humans they most likely (probably) have a 50/50 chance, just like vampires.

Thanks I was looking for something like this. I want a similar storyline for my heir's partner but don't wanna play her full life as I only play with my legacy family.

Is it possible to change a mermaid into just a regular Sim? I know I'm in the minority, but she keeps running into the water in the middle of conversations etc... I'm also having a lot of problems with my game and her face is turning black when she becomes a mermaid. I know it must be from one of my mods. Thanks!

Eat 2 Mermaidic kelp and go into the water afterwards. You'll become normal once again.
