How to start sims on fire?

Hi everyone,
I'm trying to work on some achievements and to help make it go faster without cheating, I need a faster way to kill sims. I try to start fires with the oven and fireplace but it never works. anyone know of a sure way to start fires or kill sims?? I know we can starve them do death but it takes a while.

Drowning is going in the pool with a ladder then removing the ladder and they will drown when they pass out
