This is absolutely how I feel playing without mods. I get so frustrated by the bugs and even worse for the gameplay. There is absolutely nothing that drives any kind of progression. Sims that are mean never do mean interactions. They are nice and they get along with everyone. Kids do homework autonomously, parents help autonomously. Like...I want some of my kids to fail. I want them to have bad parents, but the game mechanics prevent that.
And with mods is just as hard to balance. I added some to try and give my sims some personality and then everyone was always angry or tense. It's a fine line and I'm still trying to tweak things to get it to a balanced state instead of just one sided.
If TS4 is going to be the main game for years to come, I hope they fix the traits, rebalance emotions, and add new personality features like attractions and/or interests. Plus the world is so limited, we need more lots, more neighborhoods, and more space. For those of us with 7 years worth of sims, we're out of room. Some of my sims had to be put in the out of world pool because there aren't any houses left for them to move into. And that sucks because I can't play them until someone else dies and they take their house. It's ridiculous. TS4 is the most limited game in the series.
