If it's an outdoor area, (ground level) you don't need tiles. In fact probably better using the terrain instead.

I wanted a little pathway from a pool in the park to the gateway without it being intrusive, and those little stones did the job - until I changed my mind and removed them, and then unable to find them when I changed my mind again! ?
