Even further back, Lothario was actually a character in a play, an English tragedy, Fair Penitent, written by Nicholas Rowe, Poet Laureate of England, circa 1703. The character Lothario was a seducer of women, married or no, and thereafter became a stock character in English theater. The name gradually worked its way into being a noun used to, yep, denote a man with a main interest of seducing women.
On the topic of other Punny Names, has anyone ever noticed that the drink at the Romance Festival, Sakura Tea, may or may not be a play on the word security? I probably only imagined or picked up on it because I drink Honest Tea. :)
