If you have a sim live in Glimmerbrook, they may see the occasional magical sim, but I think (it's been a very, very long time since I *haven't* played with Spellcasters) unless you go to the Magic Realm itself, or have your sim become a Spellcaster, you will not see any brooms or magic, and you don't have to be a spellcaster to live in Glimmerbrook.
As an extra bonus, if you do bring a spellcaster into the family by accident, you can more or less ignore their magic. Unlike Vampires and Werewolves, they don't have to accomodate their magical state in any way. At worst you'll get some calls issuing magical challenges which you can ignore.
