I have the Holiday pack. If by previous versions you mean Sims 1-3, no I have not played them. I like having new places to explore and hidden content to uncover.

You say that you have no idea about how many packs there are. If you're really interested in playing this game, I'd suggest you actually look at all the packs The Sims 4 has to offer on the website or via the Origin client.
I have looked around before and I've watched YouTubers use them. I know that there are a lot of packs, but I'm really only somewhat familiar with the big boy ones like City Living and Cats & Dogs. I will definitively look through them all again when I get the chance, and perhaps come back and make a poll, like you suggested. ?
