These phone calls will be updated so they can also be triggered by the new system, if I understand correctly, @EgonVM.
I'm not into story progression at all as I play rotational, but this sounds like a feasible way to add story progression without forcing it on Simmers who don't like it.
What bothers me a little is that it could get annoying to have even more calls asking the player to decide about something.
We already have a very wide variety of phone calls, plus we saw how annoying it gets to be constantly asked whether another Sims should evolve a preference.
I hope this will not be a feature people have to turn off even though they'd like to have story progression just to get rid of all the text spam that comes with it.
