I'm not sure if this is a real issue or if I'm just dumb. I was trying to celebrate winterfest and I wanted to invite over the family of my sim. I was afraid that creating a dinner party would overlap...

I held a dinner party for Christmas and I thought it worked out much better than the "invite to hang out at current lot" option. Only one problem though - it did not fulfill the "invite guests" tradition. So, if you are planning to do it that way, then don't make "invite guests" one of your traditions for that holiday.
