Is anyone else often annoyed by the game's animations?

I usually find the animations cute, and take them for what they are. Animations in a very cartoon looking game. However, today, I actually did get quite bothered from the 200 arm gestures my Sim made while talking about her deceased pet. It looked like she was making a joke, and not talking about a sad event at all.
