I've decided I'm not getting it. From what I've heard about quirks and celebs randomly spawning (also not being able to turn off the reputation system - a system I actively don't want), coupled with the fact that the content I do like I can live without it would be more hassle than it's worth it seems.
There is an option to turn fame off for sims you do not want to become famous. It's easily turned back on if you decide otherwise later.
The Quirks aren't too bad, some of them are handy to have others are funny, there is a list ingame that tells you of all the quirks and what your sims will have to do in order to gain them, which makes it easy to avoid the ones you don't want, if you don't give your home lot the celebrity home trait not many if any sims will gather outside. There are always options.
no you can turn off fame for everyone or keep it on reputation will always be on so if don't want it don't get the pack quirks can be gotten rid of easily in a number of ways and fame can be gotten rid of easily as well
