I think people are expecting more than they will be able to deliver.
Dine out is still quite broken for most players who don't use mods, and the reason is simple, the things they are trying to accomplish in Dine Out require unplayed sims to be very on-task. MWS takes that requirement even further.
If they haven't been able to fix Dine Out in all these years, I doubt they will be able to fix MWS either. That said, they should be able to at least iron out the things where it's broken because they left code unfinished and left debug code in. I'm just sayin'... keep your expectations within the realm of what history shows they can actually deliver.
But now simmers are more aware of the brokenness and even the game changers are noticing, since this pack has a selling point and the brokenness of said selling point (that was marketed heavily) is much more obvious, and the company got more backlash and feedback this time around—which is good so they can learn from the feedback— so now I expect a bit more work on a pack’s issues this time around.
At the very least, the basics of the heavily marketed selling points should work, and the first patch does at least start to address some of those minor issues (like two aisles and party members wearing assigned party outfits, renew vows, etc).
We should not lay down and just take completely broken content like this, especially paid content. I am glad that even the YouTubers and sims community members were very vocal about their experiences this time around. We cannot let mods take care of every single broken paid content thing, NOPE.
No more excuses this time around, especially now they’re adding more coding stuff like story progression. If they got time for that, then they got the time (and motivation with the backlash and more vocal feedback) to fix a PAID pack that they advertised heavily and did some social activism for, etc.
Having (reasonable-levels) expectations for at least the selling point and basics of a paid pack to work should never be dismissed, and I’m glad that game changers/YouTubers are being vocal about this. This is good, and vocal fans shouldn’t be silenced for saying the truth about the broken paid features and for wanting better quality.
I loved this game since toddlers came around, and I would love to get this pack. I just… can’t feel good about buying a very broken pack. I want this pack so, so bad! But… the main coding of the selling point needs to be fixed.
I don’t mind a bit of chaos of weddings and parties (sims games are always full of chaos, lol!), but it looks like there were even minor things just not working at all (like party guests not dressing up and venue stuff, revows, etc), so I would like it if the team would step up to the plate and fix most of the stuff.
And the patch did show me the team is willing to do that. We just have to wait for more patches. :) *is hopeful and will wait for more patches*
