Is Newcrest inspired by a real place?

I remember in the original game (after Living Large came out) we could duplicate neighborhoods with a simple copy command increasing the number...up to 99. I had dozens of neighborhoods. One was devoted to actors, another was a very poor neighborhood, one was for single sims. I loved having that control. I just wish I could rename the worlds we have.
