I might be wrong here, but I thought that you could use MCCC on the Sim portrait in your active Sim's friends list. So in this case it would be the sad wife, find the husband in her list of known sims and "revive Sim" using MCCC that way. I haven't had to revive anyone for over a year so I'm a little fuzzy on the exact procedure.
I could be dead wrong, no pun intended. Hope you are able to reanimate your dead dude. Hopefully they are not an idiot and you end up regretting the decision either!
