I am so glad for this post. When I finally got around to playing (70 hour/week workweeks are killer) again, I saw there was a new EP. Then, I saw the "promotional" video. That's supposed to reflect the absolute best about the game, right? I'm like, 'wha? an EXPANSION pack? Not a stuff pack or game pack? This isn't enough for an EP.' Yes, I would stay with Sims 3 if I were you. Sims 4 doesn't look like your type of game. :)
