Kids shouldn't be cleaning autonomously....

My brother and I had chores everyday after school. We quickly learned it was better to get them out of the way as soon as we got home. Then we would be free to play. Homework was done after dinner.
When we were younger we 'play' cleaned with Mom. My brother especially liked the vacuum cleaner because it was so noisy. He would run over to it and grab it right away. There may also have been an element of power to this;, he liked it when he sucked up a sock, rug edge or curtain, which meant he had to stop and fiddle to get it working again. He also laughed a lot when the dog ran away as the machine drew near. >:)
