Lack of matching stuff in build mode

Building in this game is turning into a chore for me because I keep coming across the same problems. Sometimes I find a door and a window that look like they were made to be used in combination, then I place them side by side just to discover that they have different colours or heights.

Also, I miss from TS2 the ability to freely combine the various colour options for bicoloured items. It's so frustrating when the only bed that goes with the rest of the furniture in the room can't have a frame of the same colour because the accompanying sheet colours don't match the style of the sim you want to sleep in it, and in turn the sheet colour you want for that sim comes with a totally unfitting frame colour.

Is really no one else experiencing these problems? Because I never read about it anywhere, it's like I'm the only simmer too dumb to build a decent-looking house, so if there's a trick I don't know about, please tell me.

  • I have a very hard time making kitchens look good. The counters and fridges and stoves rarely fit together.

You are not the only one! This has made me hate building with a passion lately. What I wouldn't give to have the colour wheel back just so I can make things match how I like them and not this chaos. *cries*

I know I said this but thinking about it, why not do something like they did for the different kitchen counters and cabinets but instead let's say you pick a dining chair, it shows you an outline picture of a dining chair, click on the frame of the chair to change the color and then click the seat to change that color too...if that makes any sense XD

That sounds like what I'd like the game to have.
Imagine it for a bed. You could choose the colour for the frame, and then choose what bedding you want. No more being forced into combinations that just don't work with the rest of the room!
  • I spent so much time in CAS for Sims3 that I didn't get much time for actually playing the game and the clothing spent ages loading. CAS is useful but I would prefer an external one for Sims 4 that could import game CAS to it, change colours to my liking and import back!
  • Laziness? All this worked fine in the prior versions, so why not now? Is the game engine that broken/limited that we can't pick a frame color from one row of the panel and then bedding color from the other, as in TS2? No wonder I've been playing that version for 14 years!
