- elelunicy6 years agoSeasoned AceThe resorts in TS3 were unbelievably bad. Everything is faked through statistics and there is no real simulation. You could get 20 customer reviews when you only had two guest Sims on the lot the whole time. I’m glad that they’re skipping it this time. If they wanna add resorts they can do it well in a dedicated pack or something. No need to shoehorn a shoddy version into this pack.

Hotel business can still be added later in a Winter Vacation pack for example
Yes I didnt think of that.- I'm so glad they didn't sacrifice other aspects of this pack, focused on island living, for tourism. Islands are more than just places for people to go for a week.
That said I would love a fully fleshed out Hotel GP. - alanmichael16 years agoSeasoned AceThe lack of houseboats is much, much worse.
- A Hotel GP would be fun @Akil, although I'm glad that they did not include resorts like in TS3. Although if they did, they could be different (engine, game design yada yada) the ones in TS3 were unimpressive. If they did do a hotel GP, I wonder if it would be based kind of like the restaurant mechanics in the Dine Out GP, but I'm not sure.
- filipomel6 years agoSeasoned AceI always thought resorts in Sims 3 were a feature that no one really paid any attention too.

I never did. I liked the ones in Sims 2 - as they were like real places I had been to - but never liked the ones in Sims 3 - so after trying them a few times just built rental huts for my Sims instead. The Lucky Palms resort was actually the only one I even came close to finding acceptable and used as it did remind me of Vegas resorts - but the rest reminded me more of being on a Ocean Liner cruise instead of being at a resort or hotel. I hated those placement rooms we had to have - they were awkward and wasted space for one. Where as Sims 2 ones were perfect - had room service and most of all sims on Honeymoons did not get bad reputations for being lovey dovey like they often did in sims 3.
I really cannot understand why anyone likes the Sims 3 version of resorts when Sims 2 did them perfectly.
But either way I am seriously happy they are not tied to this pack as it is exactly what I was hoping for and frankly did not believe we would get - thanks to Sims 3 version. So I for one am happy it is without them and maybe now they can focus on something like that for the third Vacation spot instead.
ETA - Agree with AlanMichael - houseboats will be missed though. But overall I am excited for this pack - regardless.- While I can understand the lack of hotels and house boats because the focus of the pack is on living on the island rather than vacationing on it, I am sad about the lack of sharks. That was one of my favorite things from Island Paradise, that and treasure hunting! A better variety of sailing boats would be nice too.
I LOVE the idea of adding hotel management in a winter vacation pack! Yes, yes, yes!!! - Same. Hotels were what I wanted the most out of a tropical based pack, but they went more island life vs. island vaycay. So while no hotels makes sense, it's still disappointing to me.
- They added a lot of things that weren't in Island Paradise. I don't understand why people want the exact same expansion for every Sims game.. Who knows, we might get hotel management in a future pack.
