Lack of resort management in Island Living is so disappointing.

They had the chance to let us make resorts just like in The Sims 3 expansion.

It feels like every The Sims 4 expansion is an inferior version of what we had in The Sims 3.

So, I will not be purchasing Island Living (right away). Part of this decision had to do with lack of hotels... But now I'm seeing it this way: hotels are definitely bigger than Island Living (not expansion pack big, but there could be hotels built in ANY of the worlds). Like what if restaurants had only come with, say, City Living--and you had to purchase City Living in order to make a restaurant in any of the worlds? No thank you. Hotels will come as a game pack eventually. And that will probably be after the 32-bit/legacy edition happens, because evidently 32-bit isn't strong enough to support types of lots like hotels which must house multiple families (this logic is based on other users' understanding of what the end of 32-bit support means, and not my own)
  • Well since we haven't gotten the game yet, I'm not going to complain about it yet. I don't care that there are no hotels or resorts, I'm excited for everything this pack DOES have though.

Ok, I come from an Island and I'm really sick of seeing people thinking that islands are only holiday spots.
An island pack doesn't mean that they should add hotels.
I want hotels too but there are so many other ways to add it to the game so I don't understand why people are crying on this forum because they decided to not add it in Island Living.
Oh and it's Sims 4 Island Living not Sims 4 Tourism.

exactly! not to get too deep in social issues, but i welcome the change. hawaii and other islands that have its tourism has its own problems with mainlanders that im sure developers were aware of given they ignored the whole hotel system and instead opted for a conservation system instead (hawaii has been....dealing with a lot of trash....from mainland tourists.....not to mention the other social issues but yeah......).

yes! I tried explaining this to someone on twitter but it wasn't coming across nearly as nicely as y'all put it. I love that they've made this island living and not island paradise. This iteration may have it's drawbacks but they really are trying to showcase lots of different cultures and I applaud them for that.

While I can understand the lack of hotels and house boats because the focus of the pack is on living on the island rather than vacationing on it, I am sad about the lack of sharks. That was one of my favorite things from Island Paradise, that and treasure hunting! A better variety of sailing boats would be nice too.

I LOVE the idea of adding hotel management in a winter vacation pack! Yes, yes, yes!!!

there's no sharks? what the heck, how did they miss that?

I guess they changed their mind and planned to do it later

Well I have heard theories that Island Living was originally supposed to be a vacation game pack, but EA changed it to be an expansion instead. Probably because the fans buy everything they produce.

There are sharks near buoys sometimes and they can kill you.
  • If you've already done that in 3....then go play 3. 4 isn't supposed to copy 3. Its supposed to be different. In fact, when playing in 3's "open water world" my computer would crash every 30 minutes, and it hasn't crashed once since playing 4. I can actually play as a mermaid, and sure their are glitches and problems, but far less then 3. And if they made it exactly like 3 then it wouldn't be 4. They hear us, and they know we want things, they can either make it and get our money, or they can have disappointed fans and missed opportunities.

Island Paradise in Sims 3 had both resorts and private residences. I used both features and it was fantastic. I tried sending one of my families to sims 4 island living just for the day and it really doesn't work, after a little while there, their toddler was sent to daycare.
As far as tourist trash goes, this is not reality, this is a game, lol, I am sorry for laughing but come on, lol, do I need to elaborate, lol.
  • Since there is not much to do there except swim around and swim around some more and then swim around, I created a mermaid and I am just hanging out in the lagoon and swimming around.
