Even if an franchise is popular and one of the versions is just average as Sims 4 is, I will give credit or discredit when it deserves it and if it means the end of an franchise then so be it. Sim City 2013 deserved to fail because it was not what it was hyped to be. Sims 4 still lack the necessary features for me and I am not talking open world. I am talking about freedom to create my neighborhoods the way I want them to be, the ability to alter my lot sizes, etc and being Sims 4 can't have any of it. Sims 4 is average to me even if EA/Maxis makes a good pack, the pack is gimped like CL.
