- Babykittyjade2 years agoSeasoned AceNever liked spellcasters even though I have some in my game just because.
I wanted witches that felt darker and more traditional. But we got Harry Potter and I'm not a Harry Potter fan.
The coolest thing is dueling but I wish we had multiple ways to duel with different stances and animations. - thefirsttemplar2 years agoSeasoned AceAs disappointing as spellcasters are due to it being way too focused on being a Harry Potter rip off and it never having been as good as it was in Sims 1, I have to say werewolves are the worst, I'll never buy that pack. It seems impossible to make them look scary, they are just furries.
- barisaxy2 years agoNew AceI'm not an occult player so I can't really speak on this. One thing I like about the occults in this game is that they're not in your face. Well, aside from that one vampire that comes at night sometimes, that's annoying.
I want to hate the werewolves but I can't. Their design is ridiculously goofy, almost to the point of looking like a fursuit. They make me laugh. I'm not sure what else to say. - annaliese392 years agoSeasoned AceThis is hard for me to answer as I honestly love all three. I think it somewhat depends on my mood and how I want to play, but right now I would probably say werewolves are my least favourite. They arguably have the most depth, but vampires and witches have always interested me more and I think I may find managing their fury annoying after a while. I do wish spellcasters and vampires were updated though, for instance it would be great if they could turn ability points into satisfaction points and spellcasters could permanently freeze their ageing like werewolves can. I have mixed feelings about spellcasters as I wanted magic or alchemy at least to be a skill. I really wish we could have hybrids.
- OldeSimsFan2 years agoSeasoned AceVmpires on general principles. Not in favour of having soulless, undead bloodsuckers in the game. Don't like them period.
- LiELF2 years agoLegendI don't understand the question.
:p - Spellcasters disappointed me the most of the big three occults. For so long after RoM released I thought my disappointment was all about how they didn’t include more varied types of spellcasters. Like classic witches, white witches, wiccans, etc. Like others have mentioned they feel like sims with cheat codes.
As time has gone on I think the fact that you can’t become a sage or play one of the sages and have them retain their title bothered me just as much. Also they’re not being able to use the powers autonomously bugs me too. Just include a toggle like we have to limit werewolves to Moonwood Mill and let them be what they are. If they could use their powers autonomously and I didn’t want that in a particular save then I could just delete them and carry on.
That said, by miles the worst is Plantsims and Merfolk, but Plantsims most of all. They completely ruined what could be one of the best occults. At least there is a mod that greatly improves Merfolk gameplay. - thefirsttemplar2 years agoSeasoned AceSadly enough despite having the most expansions, Sims 4 has the least occults. It's so boring compared to Sims 2 and 3.
Heck, even Sims 1 was better with occults. It had better magic than the later games, Making Magic is still one of the best expansions they ever released for any sims game.
Sims 3 probably was a bit better with it than 2 overall, but still did loose a bit of an edge, as the series keep losing with every new game. Not that it could possibly get any tamer with Sims 5 unless they plan to remove woohoo and any kind of mean interactions. - i_love_frogs_112 years agoSeasoned AcePlant sims, because in TS4 they arent a permanent state and basically do nothing but look like they dipped themselves in bright green paint.
- ThriorTheSecond2 years agoSeasoned AceFrom the "big three" definitely Spellcasters.
The biggest issue to me is that they are WAY too easy and their skill tree lacks flavor. Like said by many others: they are basically sims with cheat codes and no drawbacks. Except curses but those are ridiculously easy to eliminate. In fact, I deliberately KEEP some curses just to add some personality.
There was no roleplay/morality choices like there are in Werewolves and especially Vampires. In Vampires I love the fact that you need to pick weaknesses that can then cancel certain strengths. There's also a variety of Aspirations to further improve your roleplay.
With Spellcasters you can't pick and choose traits most appropriate for your character since the trees force you to advance in a certain order. Also, the skill tree just lacks imagination and is very basic like "you earn Xp faster" or "your spells are less likely to fail" or "you generate less Spell charge" *YAWN*. Compare this to Vampires and Werewolves who actually get new abilities and interactions.
Learning of spells/potions is also way too simplified. Spells could be a great customization option but instead you learn them at random and thus basically every single spellcaster knows the exact same spells. The only difference is whether you choose to ignore certain magic schools. I guess you could bypass this by only learning spells via tomes but my point still stands. As it is there's not even really an incentive to use the freaking tomes since you learn everything easily with just practicing spells by yourself. Also, what is even the point of becoming an alchemist since you get free samples of powerful potions and can just then use Copypasto spell again and again?
I still managed to have fun with my spellcasters but it just kinda took a lot of self-imposed restrictions, roleplay, and mods. Without that every spellcaster feels the same. With Vampires the different playstyles happened naturally thanks to different strength/weakness combos.~*~
If we include every occult...
I can't say anything about mermaids since I don't have them but Plantsims... hoo boy, yeah they are pretty much the definition of lazy.
