I don't think the majority of players are LGBTQ+. It doesn't seem to be the case on the forum. I think there is just a larger number from this community playing it because the game is more inclusive than other games. I think that's a great thing and I don't think it hinders masculinity. I think it's just the lower number of CAS options and attempts to be more fashionable that make masculinity seem overlooked more. I did read that 65% of players are adult women, so maybe this is why and I admit I do spend way more time in CAS dressing female Sims then male Sims. I still want more male CAS options though, especially for plain jeans, athletic T-shirts and dark black shoes.
1: How do you define masculine?
This is a little complicated for me to define for my Sims. I don't really know why I see certain Sims as more masculine than others. It's more of a combination of part physical frame, part personality, part clothing and hair, and part walk style. Some male Sims, like if they have very small shoulders, short hair, big bellies or hips, are wearing tight flood pants, even if they are in T-Shirt and jeans or flannel and work as a construction laborer, can look less masculine to me then say Morgyn Ember, even with Morgyn's makeup and feminine clothing choices. However, if the tiny shoulder pear-shaped Sim has more baggy clothes or a beard, maybe he won't look feminine to me. Morgyn is very fit and has a lot of magic power, so maybe this even adds to his masculinity even though he's wearing makeup and heels. Very masculine to me, is also the pretty male vampire with long CC hair swept to the side and some eyeliner, but others might not think so. I could probably put Caleb in a miniskirt and heels and he would still look masculine to me, but others think he looks very feminine as he is. Any male Sim, no matter how ruggedly dressed, is going to look very feminine to me, if he has the feminine or perky walk style. But then sometimes a male Sim who has a perky walk and is well dressed in a fitted suit might just look snobby and still masculine. So it depends on the Sim and my perception.
2: What does your masculine sim like to do?
My masculine Sims do everything the same as my feminine Sims, although there are two things I don't have them do, like knitting and crocheting. I prefer to play those activities with elderly female grandmothers or stay at home Moms. It would be fun to have a single Dad knit a onesie for his baby though, or outfits for his pets, I haven't done that yet. Those are the only two things I can think of. I like them to do everything else the same, including things like cooking, cleaning and childcare.
3: What career would your masculine sim like?
I don't think of gender when I pick careers for Sims. I think of their personality traits and aspiration and try to get the career to match those.
4: What would your masculine sim like to wear?
For my ruggedly handsome and masculine Sims, I would like jeans that are not too tight or too short, some more dark black shoes since the ones we have are sometimes lighter in color than the black pants, and more athletic T-shirts and tank tops. For other Sims who are masculine in a more gorgeous way, such as my beautiful vampires, I would like long side swept hair and more old fashioned well fitted clothes like in the Vampire pack and more single fang earrings since I put the one we got with the pack on all my vampires so they know each other. For my masculine artists in San Myshuno with prettier hair, I would like ragged clothes so I can make them look like poor, struggling artists and musicians living in apartments.
5: Does your masculine sim have/want body hair?
No he does not, but I would be open to that as long as I can turn it off, if I don't think it looks good. I would especially prefer that to come with a werewolf pack.
Interesting topic.
